Your Space. Your Ideas.
What should we do with this small piece of land in Purlwell?
There is a small area of Council owned land behind Purlwell Avenue which could potentially become a more useful community space. Nothing has been decided. I want the people living around it to help shape what happens next.

What could the space become?
These are ideas for discussion only.
A mixture of several ideas is just as possible, and residents may have completely different ideas of their own. That's exactly what this conversation is for.
Could local children help shape the space?
If residents support the idea, I would also like to approach Purlwell Infant and Nursery School to see whether the school and its pupils would like to become involved.
This could potentially include gardening, planting flowers, growing vegetables, learning about wildlife, or helping care for part of the space.
Nothing has been agreed with the school. This is simply another idea we could explore together.
What would you NOT want to see?
Residents living closest to the site may have legitimate concerns, and I want to hear those just as much as the ideas.
- Noise
- Antisocial behaviour
- People congregating late in the evening
- Loss of privacy
- Parking problems
- Litter
- Dog fouling
- Maintenance concerns
- Equipment too close to nearby houses
Come and talk to me on the site.
I will be at the land on Sunday 13 September at 11am. Rather than sitting in a meeting room, I want us to stand on the site, look at the space together, and discuss what could realistically work.
Bring your ideas, concerns and suggestions. Nothing will be decided on the day. The purpose is to listen and understand what residents want before taking anything further.

Share your ideas, even if you can't make the meeting.
Takes about two minutes. No account or login needed.
Thank you.
Your feedback has been recorded. It'll be read alongside everything shared at the meeting and used to help decide whether, and how, this idea moves forward.
No final decision has been made.
After speaking to residents and reviewing the feedback, I will publish a short summary of what people have told me.
If there is local support for developing the land, I can then start discussions with Kirklees Council, Homes and Neighbourhoods, and other potential partners about what is practical, what permissions may be required, and whether funding could be available.
